A walking group with a level of difficulty of easy plus! We will be out for 4-6 hours, walking about 5-7 miles dependent on terrain. We will use good paths and easier routes, taking our time to enjoy the beauty of the fells. We will walk as a group at all times.
All walkers will be expected assist the Group Leader walking out new routes.
Walkers should bring a packed lunch, drinks and snacks. We usually stop at a cafe/pub for a cuppa (and cake?) at or near the end of the walk. This walking group is as much about the social aspects as the opportunity to explore the Lake District.
You will require walking boots, waterproof clothing and additional warm clothing. You should consider carrying a foil blanket or bivouac bag and first aid kit. Emergency contacts and medical details should be kept waterproof and accessible. You may wish to use the following form as an example -
In Case of Emergency form photo000130.pdfMeeting place will usually be at the Cemetery, Strawberry How Road for car sharing. Members will reimburse voluntary drivers for petrol. Walks are every Tuesday, with a break of a few weeks in December after our Christmas Lunch.
Walk details are circulated by Whatsapp, giving potential walkers an opportunity to ask for further information about the walk. Walkers must book onto each walk to ensure there will be sufficient transport. We normally have enough willing drivers so no one is expected to drive if they are not happy to do this.
