Wednesday Walkers is moderate walking group, climbing up to 2000 ft and walking up to 8 miles. During the summer months, distance and height climbed may be more, but this will communicated via the newsletter, email and through the WhatsApp group. Walks will take place on reasonable paths, without to much technical difficulties.
The group is member led - which means that members all take a turn to lead walks. This will involve doing a reccy of the route, working in pairs. The group leader, Christopher Chleboun, will provide help, advice and support including doing reccys where convenient.
Walks currently take place on the 2nd and 4th Weds of the month.
All walks start from the walk meeting point at Strawberry How. We meet at 8.45 for a 9.00am start. Car sharing is at the discretion of the driver. Where car sharing takes place, members reimburse the driver for fuel costs and parking charges, if required.
Members are required, wear appropriate footwear and clothing and bring their lunch, snacks and something to drink. All members should carry their emergency contact details. A reasonable degree of fitness is required and all members participate at their own risk.
It is preferable that members emergency contact details are also up to date on the Cockermouth U3A website.
